Is an animal cracker/cookie a cracker or a cookie???!

Question:

Is an animal cracker/cookie a cracker or a cookie???

Answers:
In the late 1800's animal shaped cookies called "Animals" were imported from England to the United States.
They are cookies!

I consider them to be a cookie because they are somewhat sweet. I don't really think of crackers as being sweet.

It is a version of a short bread cookie.

No cracker in sight, they just named it that.
