What would you include in a vintage glamour cocktail party?!

Question:

What would you include in a vintage glamour cocktail party?

I am planning a party and I need ideas for style and items to include in the decor and activities for those attending that would fit the theme (so they aren't just standing around bored). Think antique broaches, feathers, or anything else that says "old style glamour". Any ideas?

Answers:
Oysters Rockefeller, champagne. . . I would research the Cotton Club, you'll get tons of "old style glamour" inspiration.

Cigarette holders. Not the easiest to find; try a costume supply shop.

Absinthe should liven things up.

Party crackers aren't just for Christmas.

But I think interesting people would be key. You could have all the swish and games you could think of, and it would still run the risk of being dull if you didn't have the right sort of interesting people. No children, unless very precocious and the sort that calls parents by first names, and at least one person who will leave traces of cocaine in your bathroom. That sort of thing.

Make it a black and white themed party or a flapper party. many costume shops carry costumes for both guys and dames. Flapper dresses and zoot suits or gangster pinstripped suits with fedora hats.. You could have highball cocktails, petit fors, finger sandwiches, fresh fruit trays, and veggie trays. for decorations you could do cut out sillohuettes or jazz themed decorations. You could have an old fashioned charleston contest or jitterbug contest. Any older dance will do. Dance contests were all the rage back in the day. Try a trivia game. I'm sure there are triva games out somewhere that could be used. Use information from the 30's, 40's and 50's as questions and answers. for example: This person was the biggest crime boss of Chicago. Answer-- Al Capone Good luck and have lots of fun.

Have folks come dressed in vintage wear.
