Can you give a party in your new house before the housewarming?!
Can you give a party in your new house before the housewarming?
I want to give a party (why I odn't know b/c my house needs to be painted) BEFORE having my housewarming. I moved in Aug. 2006. The party will be in Feb. housewarming in April (wanted to give a BBQ, plus didn't want it close to the holidays - more stuff for me!!)
Can you do that, or is the housewarming supposed to be the 1st party?

I have a lot of family that doesn't live where I live and have to gie them time to plan...esp since most are still fixing homes in N.O. (I'm in the Atlanta area). I wanted a BBQ, which is why I'm waiting so long. And, I didn't want to have it close to the holidays.

Sure you can. It's an "open house". Make sure they know NOT to bring a gift and let them know in advance that a house warming is also in the planning stages for a future date.
Have your housewarming whenever you want but, remember some of the guests that attend your open house will not also attend a house warming.
If you are like me and entertain a lot, they are used to your frequent gatherings anyway.
Have fun and enjoy your new home.
Actually, I think you should bite the bullet and hurry up with the housewarming. It is overdue for people to see your new place. Forget the paint and the other party... Shoot for jan or feb.
good luck.
a housewarming should always be your first party
it's a special time to share with your family and friends
it's also a time for you to let them know that you need them
have your party on a saturday afternoon
then you ask your guests --- who wants to come back sunday
for a paint party
of course you should have your paint and all supplies
have everything ready and get the painting out the way first
then spent the rest of the day
feeling blessed for having such good friends
...and don't wait until April
It's your house. Do whatever you want!
I think it's a great idea. Invite any friends & family that are in your area & it's also a good time to invite your neighbors over to get to know them better.
Well you can do what you want to considering its your house but the house warming is suppose to be the first party. Did you think that all the people you invite to your party might not show up to your house warming party b/c they were already there at your new house Im sure you want as many people as possible so be careful. Hopefully luck is on your side
why don't you make the party a housewarming at the same time, that could save time instead of having two parties.
