Potato salad would be perfect since you have the cold cut platter!. I like to make the cheesy potatoes that is great for a large crowd using frozen hash browns, sour cream, cream of chicken soup, cheese!. Google the recipe!. That would be a great dish to include!. That would be the first thing I would go for!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think you can skip the potatos, there is already some starches!. I would suggest adding a green salad and a vegetable, like maybe just green beans with almonds!. But if yo uwant to do potatoes, you can do a garlic dill potato, where you cut red potatoes in wedges or chunks, boil or steam until tender ( not mushy) and toss with melted butter, fresh garlic and fresh dill, these do not need a sauce and will complement the sausage!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

For the potato dish, i would say you could try doing a plate of new potatoes or small sized potatoes, cook them then cut them the same way you would a jacket potato!.
Then add a spoonful of tuna mayo to one set!.
Melted cheese to another!.
Butter to another!.
Cheese and onion with bacon pieces!?

You could add a potato salad but make it yourself, mayo to new potatoes then other stuff you feel you need!.

Another idea to go with the dips you could do cut up cucumber, carrot sticks eg!.!. or just bread sticks!.

One of my traditional buffet items is a cold pasta salad!. I make pasta al dente, add some pieces of raw broccoli and pour bottled italian dressing!. This way it doesn't have to be kept cold as a mayonnaise dish does!. It is simple to make and pretty!.
Listen, I hope I didn't ruin the surprise party for me!. I'll come in and still act like I am totally shocked!. ThanksWww@FoodAQ@Com

Take that taco dip and put it on potato skins and you have a real winner there!. That is if you feel the need for potatoes which I think you don't need given the choices!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
