Well, since my dad's been dead a number of years, and I still miss him, I would much rather to go his birthday dinner.

Dad's Birthday Dinner... He's been gone for 5 years now and I'd skip ANY damned party to have dinner with him again.
Definetly my dad yuo should always put familt first no matter what...

If you want to do both, then do both. Personally, I'd only have the energy for one thing, and I'd choose my dad over some party.
