Turning 50 this year?!

Question:

Turning 50 this year?

My husband and sister-in-law are both turning 50 this year.I am in charge a planning a surprise party.Would it be more fun to have the theme from 1957 the year they were born or 1977 the year they were teens? Please help with ideas from both eras!!

Answers:
Actually, it should be a 1976 party bc they were 19 in 1976 and no longer teens in 1977. You then could also have a bicentennial themed party. Remember how many ppl stocked up on bicentennial souvenirs back then? You might be able to find some to use as decorations or party favors. The 1976 theme would be nice because almost everyone looks back to the time when they were teens. You could even play some cool songs from ABBA, Styx, 3 Dog Night, Creedance Clearwater Revival, BeeGees, etc.

1977 since they remember

The year they were teens because they will remember it better!
Thats a great Idea, I'm sure they'll enjoy it a lot!

Well, I am young, a teen myself. But, I think that it would be most fun to have their party themed with the year(s) that they were teens because it would bring back so many good memories. I love my memories and I wouldn't want to forget them, and when I get older I hope that I have someone like yourself to throw me a party to help me remember. Good luck.

I would think that it would be more fun for them to have theme from when they were teens. They would remember that era as opposed to what it was like when they were born. Plus, the late seventies were so campy, it would be a blast to recreate. Whatever you go with will be a lot of fun, good luck!

give it a 30 years in the future theme. something to look towards as opposed to looking back.

IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU GAVE THE PARTY WITH THE THEME OF 1977.THEY WILL REMEMBER IT BETTER.

i think the 70's wins. How about a theme based on some of the campy tv shows back then. the brady bunch, welcome back kotter, wonder woman etc. etc.

my sister just turned 50 . What we did we started the party with the year she was born . My brother even located the enamal wear big dish pan my Mom use to bathe her in. Then through out the hall we had pctures of her growing up and what ever item that we remembered concering her.
This brought about so many memories and so much conversation and we all had a good time. I am 70 years old my 50 year old sister is the baby of the family.
