Just get yourself there, you will be the hit of the party.

as a gift? or food??

a gift and some chips cause everybody love's that stuff

what do you mean? if its food, bring kebobs cuz everyone love those. if its a gift, buy or make something that every one can use, like a magazine rack or a tissue box.

Please update your question, who is the party for; a friend, girlfriend, family member, etc.

It depends on the age group.
Adults- A bottle of Merlot, Port or any type of Alcohol.
If you want to take food-- go with a desert, Apple Pie, or a quick tub of ice cream, or a store bought Chocolate cake.
If its a healthy group, Baby carrots & Cellery sticks with low fat cream cheese.
or just a bottle of Sparkling Non Alcoholic Wine (with or without).

Go buy a potted plant and a bunch of different sharpie markers. Take it home and decorate the pot with the markers to say Happy Birthday or their name or something witty!

Well, assuming it is an adult party, bring a nice bottle of wine. It is a classic thing to bring whenever you don't want to arrive empty handed.
Kids party. Silly string and gag gifts (fake poop, vomit...rancid flavored jelly bellies etc.) You will be a hero.
Actually, come to think of it, I have been to adult parties where these would work too! Bring both!!!
Have fun.

Take a bottle of wine or flowers if its an adult party....if its kiddie then take some tortilla chips or ice-cream...coz theirs very likely to be a cake...or just take soft drinks....

Maybe a party platter, you can buy them at any food store.
