Chocolate fountain help?!

Question:

Chocolate fountain help?

me and my family are attempting to use a chocolate fountain i got for xmas. and its not working so well. Weve added about 3 times as much oil as in the instruction booklet and its on a flat surface but it only drips and doesnt flow any subjestions on what i can do to help it flow not drip??

Answers:
Maybe the heating element isn't heating the chocolate up enough so that it can flow easily. I would try looking in the instruction manual to see how hot the temperature is supposed to be and put a thermometer in the chocolate after about 15 minutes and see if it is at that temperature. Also I would suggest not adding as much oil. Hope that helps. Good luck.

It seems to be to liquid.

Add less oil.

Why are you putting 3 times as much oil in as the instruction booklet tells you to?

If something COMES with instructions, you need to follow the instructions if you want it to work!

Are you using the right chocolate?

let it run on for a few minutes with nothing in it then restart by using the correct amount of ingredients

Be sure to use dark chocolate or something with at least 45% cocoa butter. This way, you won't even have to use oil and should flow properly throughout the machine. For idealistic chocolate, follow the source link.

I got one and have the same problem! I am glad to see I am not the only person who feels like a 'tard cuz I can't get it right! Had to keep adding oil, WHICH IT SAYS TO DO IN THE BOOK if it won't flow right..for all you dinks out there yelling at this person for adding oil without knowing the facts!!!

It never fully flowed over all the levels the right way, and , the stuff was so runny it made a mess dripping off of everything and all over the table as we transfered from fountain to mouth! I still ate it but wasnt too happy. I used chocolate chips...next time I will try the chocolate melts that you buy in the craft store and see how that is..and finally I am gonna do what the other poster suggests, use a more expensive chocolate with lots of cocoa butter and oils in it. I will post back another time to tell you how the experiments worked out!
