No. Mad cow disease was caused by unsanitary practices which new regulations haved fixed. There have been no indications that show it will transfer to humans. One study showed you would have to eat something like twenty pounds of beef in a sitting to have a chance of contracting the disease.

I think so because it is a bad illness.

Probably not, but I think bird flu is. It's a horrible way to die (you drown in your own bodily fluids), you might not have any symptoms until it's too late, it's highly contagious and if there's an epidemic in this country there will not be enough vaccine for everyone. Most likely only the rich and powerful will survive. It's a very depressing thought.
