Holiday dinner ettiqutte question.?!

Question: Holiday dinner ettiqutte question!.!?
OK, so I went to see my brother and his girlfriend this Thanksgiving!. We agreed that since it was only the 3 of us at his apartment, it would be informal!. I suggested I cook a family favorite recipe, and my brother was excited about it!. I brought all the ingredients to his apartment!.!.!.about 30 bucks worth!. I spent about 2 hours cooking at his place!.

For reasons of timing (caused by his girlfriend), the stuff I cooked couldn't be eaten with dinner!. Since I live nearby, they suggested I come over the next night and we could have leftovers!.

For two nights in a row, they called and said they were busy and couldn't get together!. I believe them and I understood, because they are in the middle of buying a house together!.

The thing that has me miffed is that when I did go there, they had eaten everything, including the stuff I made, and also a pie I baked, neither of which I got a chance to try!.

Is that rude!? I guess there isn't anything I can do about it, and I'll have to get over it either way, I'm just wondering if I'm being crazy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Always 2 sides to a story, but yes that is rude on your brothers part!. He obviously is so wrapped up in with other things he either doesn't care on how is actions makes you feel!. I would blow it off but when let him do his thing, and when he asks you over again, maybe you should have him come over to your place, maybe hint around that last time you tried a dinner that only comes around once a year and is supposed to be about family, he dogged his sister out 2 times!. Sometimes people just need to take the time of what is important in life and sometimes its the small things we take for granted!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Maybe your brother was miffed because his sister took too long cooking the old family recipe he was raving about to his girlfriend!. Since you dont live that far away why didnt you make it at home and just warmed it up when you got there!. Even still he should not have eaten everything without you!. I think you should let your brother know how disappointed you were!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The whole situation seems a bit strange!. I think it was discourteous that you never got to try the dishes you made, but at the same time, I wouldn't really expect them to save leftovers for an unknown length of time!. I probably would have let the whole thing go when they were unavailable for those couple days!. Consider the food a host/hostess gift!. I definitely see where you're coming from, though!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
