Gifts Ideas For a Hostess?!

Question: Gifts Ideas For a Hostess!?
I am going to visit a friend of mine for a few days, and i will be staying in his home!. I feel embarrassed to show up empty handed, but i know nothing about his mother's taste in!.!.!.well, anything from books to candles!. What are some basic gifts that would probably be acceptable for her since i will be staying in her home for four days!? I've only met her twice!.!.!.

anything that might help:
i am from arizona, a state they've never visited, and they're in ottawa, canada, so i thought maybe something arizonian-y (!? (lol!. but it doesn't have to be!))

also he's not a loser living in his mother's basement at 32, we're still in high school haha (just throwin' that out there to avoid needless rude comments)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Isn't the southwest known for its turquoise!? Maybe a nice little trinket box with turquoise on it!? If you want to take flowers, ask your friend first if she's allergic!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

How about a bouquet of flowers for the hostess!. Every woman loves those and you can pick them up at a local store when you get there!. Even better, send them from the florist when you get home!. You could attach a little thank you note and what could be better!!!!?!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

how about some type of ceramic work that looks very Arizona!? maybe a set of coasters or something!? I would just look around the shops and see if anything jumps out at you!.!.!.just ask yourself "Would I like to receive this!?"Www@FoodAQ@Com
