I think they used to be hand made!.!.!. it would make sense!. Nowadays most of them are manufactured in a factory in Queens NY!. That's probably why the fortunes are never good!.!.!. machines don't relate well to humans, lol!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There was an episode on them on "Unwrapped" on the Food Network just the other night, and you might be able to see it on their site!. They were invented during the Depression, to lift the spirits of customers!. They're traditional in Chinese restaurants in the US, but not in China:) !.!.!.
