Christmas eve appetizers?!

Question: Christmas eve appetizers!?
christmas eve i have been put in charge of the appetizers so i was planning on doing about three and i have some ideas but i wanted a few more plus some opinions!. in my family dinner is seven kinds of fish(we are italian) so i dont want to do anything else with fish for appetizers!. in the past we have had: rumaki, tortellini with pesto, sweet and sour meatballs, and hot artichoke dip!. i dont want to do anything too similar to those things because i want to come up with my own stuff and be different!.

so far i am considering things like: bruschetta, stuffed mushrooms, taco dip, fruit salsa with cinnamon chips, and sausage and cheese balls!.

does anyone have any opinions on this or any good ideas/recipes i can use!?!? thank you!Www@FoodAQ@Com

What you have listed sounds awesome!. You could try a trio of dips/spreads like the bruschetta, hummus and an artichoke tapenade served with sliced of toasted baguette!. Take some glasses and set around the table fill with nuts, breadsticks or cheese straws!. Chocolate covered strawberries are good!. I did a shower and I served dried apricots dipped in white chocolate, I did over a hundred and there wan't any left at the end of the party!. Enjoy your family and the holidays!. An aside to star dust's answer, that's called Jezebel sauce and that reminded me that my mom makes it every year for christmas ever, I had forgotten!. I don't care for it but my husband and my mom LOVE it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You are Italian, how about Spinach Balls!? I got this from my good friend Jane, who is Italian!. They make great appetizers, are easy to transport, freeze well, and are good the next day for snacks if any are left!.

Ingredients

2 pk Frozen Spinach
3 Eggs beaten
1/4 cup Melted Butter
1 cup Stuffing Mix (Mrs!. Cubbison's Seasoned Dressing is best)
1 Onion
1 cup Parmesan Cheese
1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350!.

Microwave or cook spinach and remove all excess water!. Cool spinach!. Add finely chopped onions and butter!. Add beaten eggs!. Gradually add dressing and mix thoroughly!. Mix in cheese gradually!. Shape into 1 inch balls and place on greased cookie sheet!. Bake for 15 minutes!.

This dip is ALWAYS a big hit with my family and friends:

* 1 block cream cheese (I don't recommend the low-fat kind - it tends to crumble)
* 1 bottle or jar of Raspberry Chipotle sauce/dip (you should be able to find this in the section with the bbq sauces and marinades!. I can usually find this at Target Super store or Safeway)
* Box/package of cocktail crackers

Place the block of cream cheese on a plate and pour the sauce over it!. Surround with crackers and enjoy!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your choices sound yummy!

For a quick little nosh I like to take a slice of Canadian Bacon, slather it with one of the Laughing Cow cheese triangles ( I use the light cheese ) and sprinkle with dried cranberries!. Roll them up and secure with party picks!. It's less than 100 calories for all that yumminess!

You could use cream cheese or one of the cheese spreads with garlic/onion in place of the Laughing Cow cheese!. I've also added just a light drizzle of french dressing to these and it's yummy, too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

here are my TOP recipes I always make for my parties- everyone loves them (they devour them!) and always ask for the recipes
Spinach dip w/ bread http://allrecipes!.com/Recipe/Spinach-Dip!.!.!.
bacon wrapped weenies http://allrecipes!.com/Recipe/Bacon-Wrapp!.!.!.
spicy bean salsa http://allrecipes!.com/Recipe/Spicy-Bean-!.!.!.
taco dip http://allrecipes!.com/Recipe/Seven-Layer!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i have a recipe that is unusual but my family always enjoys it cuz its a lil diff or even bizaar to some people!. i brick of cream cheese, apricot preserves and raw horseradish on top!. serve with any kind of crackers and its really good!. :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I love stuffed mushrooms!
7 layer dip with chips might be good
Deviled eggs are one of my favorites
Pigs in a blanket (biscuts with mini weinies and cheese in the middle)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your choices sound really good!. Bacon wrapped water chestnuts brushed with a little soy sauce and cooked under a broiler are good too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I honestly think that your appetizers that you were thinking about sound DELICIOUS!!!! I would just go with that! :-) Www@FoodAQ@Com

Jalapeno peppers stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped with bacon!.
20 peppers
package of cream cheese
Pound of bacon-I use oscar mayer!.
pop of stems and slice halfway through!.
Clean out seeds and membranes(or leave some in for more heat)
stuff with cream cheese
wrap with a piece of bacon
place on broiler pan with holes or place cooling racks on a cookie sheet!. The bacon needs to drain off (make sure slit is facing upwards otherwise cheese will all ooze out) You can use a toothpick to hold them together!. I usually wrap it pretty tight so there is no need for the toothpick!.
bake at 375 for about 30-40 minutes!. You can broil at the very end to crisp up the bacon!.
These are awesome and I get Tons and tons of compliments everytime I make them!. The men usually love them best!. I guess they get tired of the same old boring bland appetizers!. They are even good cold or at room temperature!.
PS-be sure to wear gloves when cleaning or have a bowl of milk and soap to wash hands thoroughly afterwards!.!.!.learned this the hard way!. also sometimes the oils make you cough and sneeze!.!.!.!.but it's soooo worth it!. Luckily my husband always offers to clean them out for me!. good guy that he is!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
