Red cabbage to which you add pear slices. They render down and you are left with a wonderful flavour. Serve with some fresh ground black pepper.
I am partial to long grain wild rice. It can be Instant rice if cooking and you don't get along.
Yum!!! New potatoes all the way. Add a herbal dressing (basil perhaps). Serve with white wine, and an equally delicious pudding!!
rice and curry sauce with naan??
Boiled Basmati rice, - add 2 tablespoons of finely chopped spring onion to the rice while they're cooking and you won't need sauce to go with it.....
Try serving the lamb on a bed of Colcannon. A combination of mashed potatoes, Kale and butter.
Lamb usually needs more color. A whitish brown meat, usually served with a lightish brown sauce, and in your case mushrooms (lightish whitish brown) and scallions (green!). For plate presentation, I would go with a nice vegetable ratatoille. For taste, however...skip the ratatoille as being too fancy dancy. Bleh. Sautee some french beans with carrot strips. Sometimes we'll wrap the french beans IN a sauteed carrot strip. Fava beans are also a nice side dish. Roma tomatoes topped with herbed bread crumbs, then baked make a good addition.
Good luck!
Curried basmati rice, and a steamed vegetable like asparagus or broccoli.
Tray roasted veg always goes down well like squash,parsnips,carrots,potato... and even peppers or vine tomatoes.
you could place your lamb on a rack above the tray and all the juices will go into the veg or you could do them seperate in different trays if you have the room in the oven.If done seperatly depending on how large you cut them they will take around 30-50 mins at 200-220 deg you could part boil them first (all in one pot )till a knife goes half way in then roast them while the lamb is resting(30 mins ish) before carving.Serve at the table from the tray (lovely on a cold night) oh yes dont par boil the tomatoes or peppers. This is a really simple way to cook and will enable you to enjoy your time with your guests. Good Luck and make sure you dont over cook the lamb. Dont forget to drizzle the veg before roasting with olive oil so they are all coated.

You could serve smoked salmon like this: line ramekin dishes with the salmon, fill the centre with philli cheese with chives, cool in the fridge for a couple of hours, turn out onto the plates and top with a wedge of lemon! Simple and delicious! No cooking!

Roast potatoes are always a treat and easy to make.
Baked potatoes! You can't mess them up. Buy one russett potato per person (or a bag of russett potatoes). Wash them, pat dry, then bake them at 450 degrees for one hour. Serve several toppings that people can chose from: butter, black pepper, sour cream, chives, and diced ham. Good luck!
