Sounds like you are looking for an elegant appetizer or two!. Here are a couple of my favorites:

Brie En Croute

1 large wheel of brie, double cream
1 sheet puff pastry
1 egg mixed with 1/2 cup water
1/2 cup chopped candied pecans
1/2 cup caramel ice cream topping
1/2 cup chopped dried cherries

Roll out puff pastry and place brie in the center!. Mix cherries, pecans and caramel topping together and spoon on top of the cheese!. Pull puff pastry over the top and tie with butchers twine!. Cut remaining pastry into decorative leaves and brush pastry with egg wash!. Bake at 350 degrees until puffed and golden!. Serve with slices of french baguette and artisan crackers!.

Baked mushrooms with pesto: Top crimini mushroom caps with your favorite pesto and top with shaved parmesan!. Bake until mushrooms are tender and cheese is melted!. Serve with baked crostini!.

Skewers of pineapple, grilled shrimp, carmelized onion!. Serve with a sweet and spicy dipping sauce!.

Japanese soup spoons filled with a borscht topped with creme fraiche and dill!.
