Breakfast?!

Question:

Breakfast?

I've got to make breakfast for my Mom's group. The difficultly is that I have to make it at home and then travel 20 minutes to serve it at my church. I'm tired of stratas and baked french toast. I can plug in a crock pot or toaster. What can I make that's different? I like to serve something savory and something sweet.

Answers:
You could try doing a theme breakfast... like Victorian England (which is very popular and extremely easy)

Make things like 4 or 5 varieties of scones and serve them with jam and tea. Also, you can do a traditional English breakfast that consists of cold bacon crumbled over cold scrambled eggs all on top of a dry biscuit (I don't like it but it's served everywhere)

Usually groups enjoy a theme and scones are super easy to bake (or buy!) and cinnamon ones are delicious!

Have fun

make pigs in a blanket! theyre really good. the weenie is savory and the roll is sweet. or you could do sausage links wrapped up in pancakes as pigs in a blankets! yum!

Bacon Sandwhiches, wrap them in tin foil for the savoury. And Croissents and Chocolate for the sweet effect. Serve with Tea or Coffee.

Can you plug in an electric griddle? You could do lots of stuff that way.

You can make a breakfast pizza at home and heat it up in a microwave or toaster oven. Use premade croissant dough as the crust and bake with raw scrambled eggs, cheese, precooked sausage, bacon, ham or a combination of either meats. You can make a sweet version by using sweetened cream cheese and fruit.

make mini fritatas and warm them in a toaster oven right before serving.

Here is my crockpot recipe for Cheese Souffle Casserole.

This is for 6 servings..so adjust accordingly.

8 slices bread (crusts removed) cubed or torn into squares
2 cups (8oz) grated cheddar, swiss, or American cheese
1 cup cooked chopped ham
4 eggs
1 cup light cream or milk
1 cup evaporated milk
1/4 tsp salt
PAPRIKA (optional)
1 tblsp parsley (optional)

Lighly grease slow cooker. Alternate layers of bread, cheese, and ham.

Beat eggs together, with milk, salt and parsley. Pour over bread in slow cooker.

Cover and cook on low 3 - 4 hours.(The longer cooking time yeilds a firmer, dryer dish).

This isn't sweet....but you can make muiffins to go along with it.....the can be served cold...

Make a chuck wagon (American Cowboy) breakfast:
chicken fried steaks (keep warm stacked up in the crock), white gravy, and biscuits. Offer jam and honey to go with the biscuits as well.

Put it in a thermal bag like pizza is delivered.

a big bowl of fruit salad is something different and maybe a batch of pancakes? yum..........

scrambled eggs on toast, and electric wok will do the eggs and a toaster will do the toast

make a gormet museli with fruits and stuff

yogurt and stewed fruit is yummy

baked beans on toast

pankakes, electric frypan or wok

omeletes

Do some fruit kabobs (get those wooden sticks and line up pineapple chunks, bananas, melon, grapes, etc...) Croissants, bagels, muffins. With cheeses, jellies, butter, cream cheese and cold cuts. Juices (apple, grapefruit, orange, etc...) Coffee and teas. This is a nice one because it's easy - yet a nice change and it will cure the sweet tooth.

Pancakes with eggs and bacon put them in the oven for a while until they get hotter, put them on a plate or tray or whatever and cover them with tin foil.
