I would suggest little boxes of chocolates. Chocolates are a great party favors when I get together with company.
Frames, with a picture of all of you in it would be nice. Candles maybe.

Martini glasses (acrylic) personalized with hand written words or messages ( I received one from a get together I went to with my girlfriends) , ink pens (I love them), note pads,
why not give them a gift certificate to a favorite restaurant or special place
I think the wine glass charms are a great idea! I use mine all the time.
How about a little plush toy or doll of some kind that sings happy birthday? I set my Thanksgiving table with plush turkeys that talked for the women,and straw basket pumpkins with liquer filled chocolates for the men.
But, what would be very nice is a champagne split for each of your guests, with the birthday person's name and birth year on a custom made label, and a greeting along the lines of 'thank you for sharing this special occasion with...."
anything that reminds them of the birthday person. a homemade cd of favorite songs (of the birthday person), or gift certificates for a night on the town (if they have kids offer to babysit so they can have a night out, etc)
