Burning waiters add a festive touch to any event.

Mardi gras celebrates life. Grilling foods like shrimp, clams, and crey-fish with lots of spice(heat).Barbecue, Jazz, Jazz and more Jazz. Posters of beloved artists along with live music is a must. Colorful costumes or enhancers such as having multi-colored hats, scarves and noise makers streamers and instruments. You could have face paintings and stilts or pogo-sticks (if you can find them).Have a dance parade and better yet make it a block party. What a great way to have everyone get together.Make new friends and enjoy the old.Everyone can contribute something. Having contests like best costumes. Don't forget the throw away cameras. They are great for parties. What a great idea it would be if a donation could be made to aid people who are enduring hardships due to disasters such as the hurricanes that devastated New Orleans. Celebrating life and remembering those who need a lift in life. We are still "America The Beautiful" We can celebrate because we are blessed and we do care. Have a fantastic party and be safe.
God Bless

they have TONS of stuff for everything you need at CHEAP prices. I've never done a Mardi Gras party but my wedding decor last year was less than $100, that included 2 gross of balloons (288), wedding favors and shipping and handling.

lots and lots of gold, purple, green, and those greek drama masks. u should also get some of those plastice necklaces. the ones that come in about every color known

When you sent the invitations, say to come in masks/costume, it will make it more fun. The invitations could be a plain white card with a mask on it. Serve classic cajun-style food, or jambalaya. Jambalaya recipe:

Desert could be anything, really. Cake, cheesecake, tarts, anything. Also include finger foods, such as chips, salsa, sour cream and guacamole, sausage on toothpicks with peppers.

Hang purple, green, and yellow streamers, gather them all at the middle of each room. At the center, hang a mask and beads. At the corner of each room, hang beads. Hand people beads as they come in the door. Play jazz music. Hope your party is a sucess!
