What to serve at SURPRISE birthday party?!

Question:

What to serve at SURPRISE birthday party?

My husband is turning the big 5-0, and I am planning a surpise birthday party for him. What type of foods should I serve. Any ideas on mixed drinks? I must mention alcohol is not an option-some are church members(very old school).

Answers:
Serve a black cake that says "OVER THE HILL" or "YOUR HALF DEAD" ha ha he will love it. Thats what i did for my dad!!!

When my hubby turned 50, we had a big BBQ with hamburgers, hot dogs and different kinds of salads. For drinks we had several types of soda and bottles of water.

Choose his favorite meals and dishes. You could have a salad bar, a make-your-own pizza bar (of course, allow time to bake pizza), desserts, chocolate fondue, etc.

For drinks, you can try punch, apple cider with sprite, colas, root beer (great alternative to alchohol!), orange juice, etc.

MAKE A BOPKA , served with PIEROGIES,. AS FOR THE OLD FARTS , LET THEM DRINK VANILLA PEPSI .
ALSO , you can buy BBQ'd chicken at the deli at WAL-MART .. For desert , ....Potato Stix.

here's a very easy punch.

1 liter of ginger ale
and bottle of cranberry (or cranapple juice).

pour juice into a punch bowl, and add ginger ale until desired "fizziness" and taste.

you can't go wrong with grilled food, though that might give away the surprise.. smelling the grill. hmm..

how about lots of finger foods? spring rolls, finger sandwiches, stuffed mushrooms, vegetable platter, chocolate dipped strawberries, asparagus wrapped in bacon.. that sort of thing.

serve somthing easy. Beef sandwiches, broasted chicken, pizza. Have a cake and make a quick punch with seltzer.
