What are you doing with the duck!? Perhaps you could have a nice goat's cheese salad for starter - or mozzarella, tomato and basil salad!. If you are doing salad with the duck, how about a light soup for starter - something you could make or buy yourself!. If you're meal is likely to be heavy, keep the desert light, perhaps a mouse of some sort!. Or go all out and do something like a cheesecake or creme brulee!. For something different you could do a cheese board instead of desert!. Good luck, hope it goes well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
For a sauce I suggest a citrus twist!.
Grand Marnier liquor about 1 cup
Fresh blood orange juice squeezed from 2 oranges
About 1 stick of cold butter
Reduce the Grand marnier, add the juice reduce a bit more about 1/3 - 1/2, then remove from the heat and stir in the butter about a Tbs!. at a time till it thickens up may take a bit more or less
for desert how about a simple strawberry shortcake twist
take a pint ofberriess, cut up with about 3/4 cup sugar, add a little lemon zest, and let rest for at least 4hrs, instead of traditional short cake use angel food cake!. Layer em up on a plate or in a wine or martini glass with some whipped cream
good luck and happyeatingg
also if you keep the orangepiecess and parts aftersqueezingg the juice you can stuff em in the duck, it'llimpartt a bit of the orange flavor through the duck as well as steam up from underneath helping cook it a little quicker by about 20 min/ pound and keep it a bit moisterWww@FoodAQ@Com

Hollandaise sauce is AMAZING on duck!. Steamed asparagus (or pretty much any dark green vegetable) will go well with it too!. Just remember to use lots of butter and cook it thoroughly!.
Duck is very fatty!. Try to get some of it off the cuts before you cook it up!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
