Decoration Ideas for a "Glamorous" 50th Birthday Party?!

Question:

Decoration Ideas for a "Glamorous" 50th Birthday Party?

My Sister-in-law will be 50 in May. She is the most giving person I know. She has always gone out of her way to make sure every important event in the lives of those around her have been wonderful. Her sister and I had came up with the idea of a "Glamorous" theme for her up coming birthday. We have a few ideas but it never hurts to have others. Any imput would be very welcomed.

When I think "glamorous" I think cocktails, champagne, hors d'oeuvres, red roses, crystal, elegant serving trays and linens, evening dresses and tuxedos..the Oscar awards come to mind. How about a fake "red carpet" where the guests and guest of honor can walk down. The invitation is really important in seting the tone for the entire party. Black, white, and red would be fun colors to work with for decorations. and somehow incorporate black and white pics of your SIL framed on the tables.

1957, hummm. Well, first 50 is the "golden" anniversery, so I would make the colors Gold and white. The 1950's and early 60's were the last of the glamor years in the US, and nothing says glamor like the big lavish musicals of the 50's (ok to me anyway;))
To drink I would serve "Mock Champaine punch" (recipe to follow) champaine and martinis.
For some reason sea food is always considered glamorous, shrimp coctails and crab claws. You could also make canipes of roastbeef, cucumber and a cheader and horseradish spread (I'll give you that recipe too)
Prime Rib roast and Conish Game hens also come to mind when talking about glamor and elegance, but that can be just me.

Mock Champaine punch

2 2lt of apple juice (clear)
2 2lt of Ginger ale
frozen fruit

mix the apple juice and ginger ale in a punch bowl and add froze fruit. The fruit keeps the punch cold without watering it down.

Roast beef canipe with cucumber and cheedar horseradish spread (30 peices)

30 melba toast rounds
10 slices of deli roastbeef, cut into 3rds
30 -60 thin sliced cucumber rounds
cheedar horseradish spread

1 cup shreaded cheedar
1 tablespoon prepaired horseradish
1 tablespoon mayonais
worchestershire sauce
tobasco sauce
mix cheese, horseradish and mayo in a small bowl intil smooth consistancy, add a frew dashes of worchestershire sauce and tobasco. spread on melba toast rounds and top with cuccumber first then artfully lay the roastbeef on top.

Well when you think of Glamour the first thing that comes to most minds is "diamonds" find a wholesale place like maybe orientaltrading that might sell faux diamons or places like Claire's or the Icing buy a bunch of necklaces and rings, earings. You can decorate the tables with those if you're having a dinner party, you could paint cheap jewelry boxes in the wood section of Michaels or Joann's or Hobby Lobby and fill them with a colored felt and have the jewelry spilling out. Also what would be cool is if you could find a friend or someone who knows how to photoshop and create a Magazine cover and photoshop her all dressed up for some event she went to onto the front.
