Here's a great article telling you exactly what you need to know, and dispelling some misconceptions!. http://www!.hospitalityguild!.com/GuidePro!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
When you have been hired, management will explain their procedures!. Some estimate your tips and include that amount on your W2!. My husband has a seasonal job and works as a server during the off season!. During the last 4 years each of his 4 different employers have included an amount for tips on his W2!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Your manager will explain how to do it when they train you!. Usually you claim 10% of your total sales!.!.!.!. say I sold 800 worth of food one night, I would claim that I made 80 bucks, except i probably would have made like 150 bucks!. Some other places make you claim only to minimum wage!. Like if minimum wage is 7!.40 ( but as a server you get paid 2!.90) and so you claim as much money as it would take you to make 4!.50 (7!.40-2!.90) in an hour!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
yes report your tips, ask if the manager keeps a record of the tips for you, sometimes they do!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
