Why does a straw stay in a cup of soda, but pops out of can?!

Question:

Why does a straw stay in a cup of soda, but pops out of can?

Answers:
On way to avoid this is to take the tab and pull it toward the opening. Put your straw through the little hole in the tab and that will keep your straw from popping out. It is because of the carbonation. As the bubbles rise, it takes the straw with them.

It pops out of the cup too, so in both situations it will stay in once it fills up with soda

It pops out of both and it is because of the bubbles.

bcuz the can dosnt have a big enuff top hole and therefore a cup has like a big hole so the carbonation has more room to escape

glass has more space forco2 to escape

Mine generally pops out of the cup as well.

I notice that it doesn't pop out when there is ice in the cup. Perhaps that makes a difference?

because of the angle it enters the can

I f you have it in your cup the carbonation end quicker in a cup then in the can becuase it has more space to float to the top.
