If a group of people shared one bag of chips, will the whole thing be contaminated with people's germy hands?!

Question: If a group of people shared one bag of chips, will the whole thing be contaminated with people's germy hands!?
Would it be considered double dipping!?
Is there anything wrong with double dipping!?
Is it the same concept as the beer nuts and snacks at a pub!?
What is worse beer nuts at a pub or a bag of shared chips with a group of people!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Yes!. especially if they licked their fingers first and then stuck it in and rummaged through to find the next chip or preztel or whatever!. It is gross and unhygienic!.

I would not eat beer nuts or any peeled items at a pub that is left out there and given to the next customer!. Poeple would have talked over the food and their saliva would be all over!. In addition, if they sucked on their fingers first and took again from the bowl, the food would be cross contaminated!.

think about it, would you touch cooked food with your hands if you had just touched raw chicken meat!? same concept!. Saliva on fingers after putting food in mouth, goes back to the bag and touches food!. so unless you are very close with the pple that you are sharing with don't let them go near your bag of chips!.

Either that or just pour out the chips into their hands and let them eat off that!.

Beer nuts (if they are unpeeled) is not so bad, as you have to unhusk them first!.

Having said all that, frankly while it is gross, your stomach acid can handle most bacteria and you will not fall sick unless that person had some super virus or your immune system has been compromised in a way (eg, you are just recovering from something or you have an immunity impaired system)!.

Hope that helpsWww@FoodAQ@Com

Yes, but the salt content of the chips would kill bacteria dead through a change in osmotic pressure!.

Eating nuts at the bar are the worst!. Sharing a bag of chips really holds no danger!.

Believe it or not, these are nothing in comparison to beer bottles which are urinated upon by rats while in storage!. People contract Weil's disease from bottles of beer quite a lot!. Weil's disease is really horrible!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

no thats not double dipping!. there is nothign wrong with double dipping unless someone is sick!. and yes that is the same concept as beer nuts in a bar!. and beer nuts are definately worse!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Are their hands recently washed!? Do they lick their fingers or eat out of one hand with the other and not lick!? better just to pour the chips out onto a napkin or plate!. I don't eat bar snacks-you just never know!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
