Cheap Easy Superbowl Food Ideas?!

Question:

Cheap Easy Superbowl Food Ideas?

Im having a superbowl party at my house and was wondering what some cheap easy food ideas people had. It is for about 15 people.

Answers:
Have a potluck party... get some of those freeloaders to chip in.

What's always popular and you don't have to spend a lot of time in the kitchen:
1. Little Smokies in barbeque sauce
2. 7 Layer Dip with chips
3. Taquitos
4. Brownies
5. Go to Costco and see what they have in terms of platters

7 Layer Dip
INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 (16 ounce) can refried beans
4 cups shredded Cheddar-Monterey Jack cheese blend
1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
1 cup guacamole
1 cup salsa
1 (6 ounce) can black olives, chopped
1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
1/2 cup chopped green onions
DIRECTIONS
In a large skillet, brown ground beef. Set aside to drain and cool to room temperature.
Spread the beans into the bottom of a 9x13 inch serving tray that is about 1 1/2 inches deep. Sprinkle 2 cups of shredded cheese on top of beans. Sprinkle beef on top of cheese. Spread sour cream very slowly on top of beef. Spread guacamole on top of sour cream. Pour salsa over guacamole and spread evenly. Sprinkle remaining shredded cheese. Sprinkle black olives, tomatoes, and green onions on top.
You can serve this dish immediately, or refrigerate it over night and serve cold. I think it tastes better at room temperature

Pull out the crock pot, and make some chili or soup. What ever you don't eat, freeze for yourselves later :)

Pot of chili, chips and cheese, veggies and dip. The key is that whatever you decide to serve, make it ahead of time so that you'll feel more like enjoying yourself during the game.

*Hot Chili Cheese Dip

1-2 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional or to taste)
louisiana hot sauce or Tabasco sauce

In a heavy saucepan over low heat melt the Velveeta and mild cheddar cheese; stir until completely melted and combined.
When the cheese has melted add in the salsa, chili, sour cream, chili powder, garlic (if using) and hot pepper sauce; cook over low heat for about 8-10 minutes.
Serve warm.
It can be put in the crock pot (high til melted then on low to keep warm).

*Taco Sour Cream Dip

16 ounces sour cream

Reduce heat to medium and stir in walnuts. Cook, stirring frequently until all liquid has evaporated, about 1 minute.
Transfer nuts to a bowl.
Combine sugar and salt and toss with nuts. Spread nuts on a cookie sheet to cool and dry.
Store in an airtight container.
If you like sweet and hot, you can add some hot chili powder to the mix for a different but yummy tasste!

*Easy and Delicious Spinach and Artichoke Dip

2 (10 ounce) packages frozen spinach, thawed, drained
2 (8 ounce) cans artichoke hearts, drained, chopped
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup mayonaise or miracle whip
1 cup alfredo sauce
1 teaspoon minced garlic
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Blend all the ingredients together.
Microwave on med high heat until cheese is soft and blended well into the spinach mixture.
You can also bake it at 350 for 20-25 mins, stirring a couple of times while it bakes.
Serve warm with nachos.

*Easy Japanese Chicken Wings

These are great to serve to a crowd, you can make them ahead and keep warm in the oven. No need to add in salt to the flour mixture as the soy sauce is salty enough.

3 lbs chicken wings (cut in half)
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or to taste, use only if you like spicy!)
1 cup butter
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
SAUCE
3 tablespoons soy sauce
3 tablespoons water
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup white vinegar
1 teaspoon Accent seasoning (optional)
1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper.
Heat butter and oil in a skillet until hot.
Dip the wings into the eggs, then into the flour mixture.
Fry the wings until deep brown and crisp, then transfer into a shallow roasting pan.
Mix all ingredients for the sauce.
Bake for about 30 minutes at 350 degrees, spooning the sauce over the wings while baking. Delicious!

*Sweet and Sour Mustard Sausages and Meatballs

24 ounces apple jelly
8 ounces yellow mustard
2 tablespoons dried onion flakes
1 teaspoon minced fresh garlic
1 1/2 teaspoons curry powder
1 lb sliced smoked sausage or l'il smokies
2 lbs pre-cooked meatballs

In your crockpot, combine the jelly, mustard, onion, garlic, and curry powder, and stir well to mix.
Add the sausages and meatballs.
Cover and cook: if meatballs are frozen, heat on high for 4 hours; if meatballs are thawed, heat on high for at least 2 hours.
You can also use just all sausage or all meatballs

*Chex Mix My Way

6 tablespoons butter, melted
2 teaspoons Lawry's Seasoned Salt
7 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
8 cups Crispix cereal
1 cup mixed nuts
1 cup small pretzels

Combine melted butter, seasoned salt and worcestershire sauce.
Place cereal, nuts and pretzels in a roasting pan.
Pour butter mixture over cereal mixture stirring constantly to coat.
Place in preheated 250°F oven and bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
Cool and store in an airtight container or resealable plastic bag.

*Tacos

1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup refried beans
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons chili powder
1/4 cup mild taco sauce (Ortega or Pico Pica brand or any smooth taco sauce, no chunks of tomato and stuff)
soft corn tortillas (try to use thin ones and warm them up before using so they don't crack when you fold them)
3 cups cooking oil, crisco oil will give the tacos a taste closest to the original
6 - 8 slices American cheese
1 head finely chopped lettuce

Slowly brown the ground beef over low heat, using a wooden spoon to chop and smoosh the meat, keep it very fine and smooth.
When the beef is brown, drain the fat.
Add the refried beans and use the wooden spoon to smash the whole beans into the mixture, creating a smooth texture.
Add the salt, chili powder, and 2 tablespoons of the taco sauce to the mixture; remove from the heat.
In another skillet, heat 1/4 inch of oil until hot (test with a small piece of tortilla, it should bubble when dropped into the oil).
Spread 1/12 of the beef mixture on the center of each corn tortilla.
Fold the tortillas over and press so that the beef filling acts as an adhesive and holds the sides together.
Drop each taco into the pan of hot oil and fry on both sides until crispy.
When cooked, remove the tacos from the oil and place them on a rack or some paper towels until they are a little cooler.
Pry open each taco slightly; add 1/2 slice of American cheese (cut diagonally) and some lettuce; top with about 1 1/2 teaspoons of the remaining taco sauce.

*Mini Hot Ham & Swiss Sandwiches
