What foods do they commonly serve at bridal showers?
Answers:
A lot will depend on what time of day you throw the shower. If it is close to a mealtime, you'll want "heavier" foods. If it's at an off-mealtime hour, finger foods are great.
I just threw one last month. We did finger sandwiches on baguettes, a spinach dip, veggie tray, fruit tray, punch, coffee, hot cocoa, nuts & mints. Everyone LOVED the food.
Hope this helps! Good luck & have fun!!!!
Finger foods: mini sandwiches, dips, fried wings, pigs in a blanket, fruit, salad, chips, etc.
It depends. My shower was a hawiian theme and we had a coed luau.
Finger sandwiches are for the prissy girls in my opinion. I wanted to have fun, not sit around taking about wedding day stuff. By the time you have your shower you will be weddinged out!
Quiche, fruit salad and Mimosas.
cheesecake???
finger sandwiches work very well. they can be as simple a cucumber slices with mayo, or watercress, or you can serve a variety of appetizers, and petit fours (mini cakes) keeping in line with the brides' colors on the frosting.
If you don't have a dainty group of ladies, drummettes, ham and cheese trays with variety of sandwich bread, and condiments. don't forget a nice punch, and/or variety of wines, water, soda pop.
Today's bridal showers can be pretty much anything you want them to be. I threw one last May for a friend of mine and the menu included:
Chinese Chicken Salad
Spinach Salad
Pasta Salad
fresh rolls
Chicken tenders, grilled outdoors
White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake
It was a success!
chicken salad, tuna salad, sandwhiches and some sides
or
chicken, potato salad, rolls, fruit other sides
good luck
At my shower, the girls made fondue. There were several pots with different cheeses, and then chocolate for dessert. Delicious and fun!
Food is expected at the shower. What is served will probably depend on the number of people attending, the venue, and the shower budget. It is acceptable to serve anything from a complete hot meal to hors d'oeuvres to desserts.
no matter if it the wedding or the shower you got to have the party mints
Everyone hates these things and there is no right answer. There is tradition - light salad, finger sandwiches, etc. - have you ever been to a party where you said "gee I hope that is what they are serving...yummy!"
Plan according to the tastes of the bride or the majority of the guests.
If the party is for the old biddies - you know who I am talking about - then do it there way and apologize to the others, they'll understand as no one likes a grumpy old biddy talking about the food being to spicy or heavy or tomatoes upsetting there...
If the party is for the bride, her friends, some young cousins and a couple of Aunts who still remember what it was like...then throw a real party, with real food and better yet - some decent wine and beers - don't go bachelorette on us but have a good time.
Listen, it will be fine any way, play to the crowd and you'll do fine. Worst case go traditional - everyone will hate it, but at least it will be consistent with what they are used to. Lady like food and goofy shower games - just don't play "I never" in front of the groom's mother - seriously, not funny.
It really depends on the time of day the party is. In the morning, a breakfast buffet is a good idea. For lunch, salads, soups and finger sandwiches. For dinner, possibly salmon, rice pilaf, and asparagus spears.
My bridesmaid had a girls-night out themed bridal shower for my shower at her Mom's. We had bars and cookies, chips and dip,
pretty much party food. We played the traditional games and had a great time.
I guess it depends on how formal and informal you would like it.
