Question:

Wedding Rehersal Dinner Suggestion?

Any suggestions? A single mom is needing help planning for a wedding rehersal dinner within a modest budget? Not only would there be the wedding party, but several out-of-town guests. What ideas do you have that would keep the event non-stressful, yet tasteful?

Everybody loves prime rib, mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus...done.
Little sweet petit chocolates or cakes for dessert....

Don't forget the wine...champagne..

and smile, it'll be over before you know it.

You could have it at your home and do it buffet style. Or you can try having it at a local resturant that is buffet style.

Have a taco bar everyone fills their taco shells with the topings you offer toppings beef, chicken, shrimp, cheese, diced tomatoes, lettuce, etc make it an fun. serve margaritas and mexican beer with lime wedges have some theme music , decorations , party favors and games. everyone should have a great time including you. or go italian a big pot of delicious sphagetti some garlice bread and salad, some red wine and good music (have fun)

This may be obvious, but try your favorite restaurant in the price range you want. They may have a separate room or whatever that you may not know they have. They may even have a cheaper banquet menu for groups such as yours.

Another idea to consider is having a main entree provided from a restaurant and then "filling it out" with easy items that you throw together yourself. Like for instance, maybe having a local Italian place make chicken parmigiana and making your own salad & rolls, then get a cake from a bakery.

Or, do it in your home and have friends help. Just make sure they can cook! :)

Good luck - I hope it goes well.

The beauty of the rehearsal dinner is that it can be any kind of party that you want. My brother had a backyard cookout in July, it was great. My cousin had a pizza party at the local pizza joint, that was fun. Mine was in December and we had a home cooked buffet at my mom's house. Bake a ham and serve it sliced at room temperature. Do one of those mayo based salads that people like potatoe or macaroni. You could always get party trays from the local deli. Meatballs in red sauce are great. My friend had hot wings, hoagies and other guy favorites at his. There is no reason to spend at fortune or stress yourself out over a rehearsal dinner, they should be fun.

My cousin served Subway. They ordered some of those mile long subs. I thought it was tacky, but that's what some people do.
