Dinner Party Menu?!

Question:

Dinner Party Menu?

I invited a few freinds around for my birthday dinner. I have taken this option because I love cooking and entertaining in general. I dont see it as a task.

This is the menu I have come up with - does it look ok?

Entrée:
Mussels done in white wine, chilli, garlic and lemongrass
Warm brushcetta of tomato, zucchini and eggplant

Main:
Butterfly leg of lamb studded with garlic and rosemary
Asparagus
Baked potatoes with lemon, garlic and thyme

Dessert:

Frangelico spiked tiramisu
Red wine poached pears
Homemade clotted cream vanilla ice-cream (if I get the ice cream maker I want before then!)

Answers:
Having had my own restaurant I can only commend you on this .
Not only is it appetising but it has variety and originality.
If you can cook this well it's going to go down a treat-and no I don't normally suck up to yahoo questioners-but this is good

Mmm, sounds fabulous!! Enjoy!

I don't know your friends but mussels and lamb are the kind of things that people either really like a lot or not at all.
You are also using some very big flavors on a very delicate product- the mussels. For that idea to work you need to use nuance in the execution of the flavors
Serve with a Vouvray
I would think that you would grill the eggplant and zucchini before use on the bread
I would replace the baked potato with a piped classic - potatoes duchess
Serve with a Zinfandel or a Syrah
The desert sounds fine although I'm kind of wondering about what the actual service will look like

I would just make sure that everyone you invite like both mussels and lamb. Both those items can be a bit tricky, and are not universally loved like chicken or shrimp may be. If you will be eating Appetizers casually, not at the seated table, then the mussels are fine, adn they can just avoid them if they dont' like them. But if you'll be serving it to them, I'd certainly be sure everyoen likes that.

Otherwise, it all sounds great. If I bring a present, can I come?! ;-)

Sounds good! Gosh I wish I have a friend like you that could cook!

Sounds delicious.Have fun I wish I could join your party.
