BIRTHDAY DINNER PARTY THEMES! thanks!?!

Question:

BIRTHDAY DINNER PARTY THEMES! thanks!?

hi, for members of my immediate family, when it is their birthday, we usually have a low key dinner party with grandparents/uncles/aunties etc. altogether,we are usually 25 people. it is held at home and i like to add a small theme to the dinner party to add a little extra excitement. for example, last year, my brother and dads birthday was during the soccer world cup so we threw them a world cup party. all i really did was bought a fe banners, green adn gold streamers and balloons, soccer theme napkins, soccer ball centrepieces and each guest got a "aussie aussie aussie" world cup badge to wear on the night and keep as a memory. it is now my mums birthday, which happends to be on valentines day. for the last 4/5 years we keep doing a romantic theme. what can i do different this year? shes in her early 40's.im after theme ideas, decorations ideas and also something which i can give each guest to wear and keep afterwards. hanks everyone for your help!! (p.s. budget is approx $30/$40) thnx

How about memories. Everyone can write about of of their favorite
memories of your mom and some copies of old pictures. You could get a cheap scrapbook to put the letters and pictures in afterwards.

How about doing the theme as both ideas combine that is "Birthday of My Special Valentine Mother"?

How about a toga party? You could have a Cupid, your mom could be Venus. The kids could do archery with toy arrows. It is pretty easy to find Cupid candles, etc. You can do gold or white paper plates, napkins, etc. Make an ambrosia punch, etc.

If so far you did romantic dinner for her birthday, no matter the Valentine's day this year is out of the question. Why don't you do a luxury style dinner party for her. With gold and shimmers and crystals. Add lilies for flower deco, golden napkin rings( you can always use fine ribbons or paper crowns). Add white candles with gold ribbons as well. For the gift you can get faux crystal charms for their keys or as jewelery( Chinatown or so). King and Queen stuff. Make her feel like a Queen.

How about a Luau? Have grilled chicken--I can give you a cheap recipe, fresh salad and pineapple. Buy flower lays at a party store.

These 2 sites have some really good ideas. You can pick the ideas that you want to do, and how elaborate you want to go.

Everyone should dress up in the decade they were born in.
