Food..at my party?!

Question:

Food..at my party?

What kind of food should I serve at my Sweet Sixteen.. nothing fancy but just simple?

No hotdogs or hambugers either!

Answers:
Fancy kind of gets a bad rap.

There isn't anything easier in the world to fix than lamb riblets, and they are inexpensive too. You sprinkle salt and pepper over them, shake them up in a baggie with some mint oil and bake them at 350 for about 20 minutes. You eat them like buffalo wings, finger food style, also a good party food.

Also, meatballs, or little cheeseballs rolled in nuts, small brown bread toasts smeared with cheese spreads, a relish tray with all of your favorite pickles and olives and peppercinis. Mini muffins with cream centers (so easy to make and to stuff), little crab cakes (one tin of crab can make 40-50 h'ordeurve sized crab cakes)

Try making a blooming onion, the Outback Restaurant's recipe is online, and nothing could be simpler (just use a really large onion for best results). Serve with ranch dressing.

How about eggrolls? Mini raviolis?

You have to have chocolate something as well, chocolate rules, and nothing says chocolate like double fudge brownies with chocolate fudge icing. Little ones, of course, just large enough to pop one in your mouth.

None of these ideas need silverware, all are designed to be bite sized.

Have fun and put something unusual in your ice cubes, like a marachino cherry or a mint leaf or a piece of candy.

pizza? You could get a bunch of lunchmeats and cheeses and have everyone make their own deli style sandwhiches. Make some pasta salad. Or maybe get some chicken.

Pizza is always great u can turn oven on low like 190 or 200 degrees to keep warm in the boxes. Also set out a veggie plate with dips. Be sure to get some pizza without meat for vegetarians.

Go for impressive without all the work!!

Pinwheels - Take a flour tortilla and spread about 1 TBS cream cheese on it. Layer ham and cheese and roll up. Cut into 1/2 pieces. Looks fancy, but *so* simple!

Maybe steak sandwiches - Get a cheap cut of steak (skirt or flank) and serve on little rolls with horseradish sauce.

Fruit & Veggie platter

Spinach Artichoke dip with tostido chips

My new favorite appetizer is a slice of ham with a a dill spear cut in 1/2 and a slice of cream cheese rolled up inside. Put a toothpick through it to hold it together. It sounds nasty but is really good!

Hot wings, pizza or pizza snacks, meatballs, eggrolls.... Any kind of finger food.

Cheesy Olive appetizers

These became popular in the '60's and are still good today. Bet you can't eat just one! Prep time includes 20 minutes of flash freezing.

55 min 40 min prep

1 cup unsifted all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt

1. Mix together all the ingredients except the olives.
2. It will be a thick mixture.
