Why did the price of eggs go up so high in the past two weeks?!

Question:

Why did the price of eggs go up so high in the past two weeks?

Two weeks ago, I bought eggs for 98 cents a doz. and this week they are at $2.29...what happened? Nothing has been in the news and I work in food service and our distributors do not know anything... any clues?
