What do you think of the menu I have planned for my daughter's wedding?!

Question: What do you think of the menu I have planned for my daughter's wedding!?
Starter: A selection of peanuts, ready-salted crisps and twiglets

Main: Pasty (vegetable or beef) with sweetcorn and carrots

Dessert: A selection of fresh fruit

There's ALOT of people coming so will be expensive!. Can you think of a way I might be able to cut back on the menu/costs!? Thanks!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Drop the peanuts because some may be allergic to them!.Twiglets are expensive so they can go!.The pasty is a good choice but there is no need for sweetcorn and carrots because there are plenty of veg in the pasty!.Not to seem tight fisted give them some brown sauce with the pasty,Fresh fruit isnt a good idea because they may start throwing it around the room and anyway they will be full after the pasty so there is no need for any dessert!.Give them coffee and biscuits,! but only ONE plain biscuit because chocolate biscuits are expensive and make a mess when dunked in coffee!.That will be almost identical to my daughters reception meal then!.She wasnt married long though i dont think her husband liked the honeymoon i booked for them---One night in Butlins self catering--edit--good idea to trim the pasty!.Do it this way!.Cut a slice out of the middle and join the two halves together!.When you have enough spare slices warm in microwave and mould to shape and you have an extra pasty--simple!.Hope your day goes with a bang !Www@FoodAQ@Com

I agree with the majority, that doesn't relly sound very appetising!.

Imagine your daughter sat down in a lovely delicate white dress and got served a beef pasty!?

Maybe you could develop a menu that caters for more tastes with just the same budget!.

Even making a nice stew or slow cooked dish would be cheap, you could use a cheap cut of meat with lots of yummy veg!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

um to be honest id be pretty ashamed and embarrassed of the food selection at the wedding if i was your daughter, pasties!? you have got to be joking! u can make more appropriate foods youself!. such as :
entree: spring rolls and curry puffs!. main: warm chicken garden salad with a selection of dressings !. desert: hire a chocolate fountain, then you dip various sweets such as marshmallows into warm chocolate - and wedding cake!. see!? much better and just about the same sorta cost!. twiglets!!!!!!!? whats wrong with you!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

ive been to weddings!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

glad im not one of the guests!. tbh you can do better than that for the money you have!.!.!.!. i mean twiglets!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

starter : vegetable soup ( make your own ) , fruit salad ( make your own again )

main : quiches, cold meat, salad, new potatoes etc

deserts ; pavlova, ice cream, apple pie anything

all can be done in bulk and cheapWww@FoodAQ@Com

Fresh fruit tends to get quite expensive!. How about just serving wedding cake as dessert!?

I think that carrots should be the least of your worries with cost!.

I am from the US, and have no idea what vegetable or beef pasties are, but all-in-all it seems like a pretty reasonable spread!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

To be honest not a lot!.If cost is an issue then just do a buffet with sandwiches sausage rolls etc iceland and most supermarkets do a seletion of party food both savoury and sweet that don't cost the earth!.After all it's your daughters wedding day!.
You could do some pasta salads, rice salad and ordinary salads at hardly any cost!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Is this serious!? Really!? If you are trying to do it on such a tight budget, why not think of having a brunch wedding and just have the fruit!. I don't even know what twiglets are!.!.!. Have brunch, fruit, tea/coffee, punch!. Perhaps some pikelets with jam and cream!. And then serve the wedding cake for dessert!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I was really looking forward to reading this question in full because I'm quite sad and like to think about weddings!. But I hope you're not serious!. I'd be really disappointed if I was serving that at my wedding- sorry! If you are serious, then I'd suggest serving those foods as a buffet rather than bit by bit!. Enjoy the wedding! :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you have eve been to an arab wedding then this is not a meal!.

Usually they have traditional arabic food for appetiser
Chicken and vegies and mash for main meal
The Dessert will be Cake and fruits

AND LOUD MUSIC AND DANCING
=]Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sounds fine!. Alot of people go OTT!. You've struck the right balance, imo!. Most people don't remember the meal anyway!. I can't even remember what we had at my own wedding!.

Ok I can see you are joking from the additional details!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

well to be honest
i really think cutting back is just not an option!.!.!.!.
all i can say is that you truly love your daughter an will be putting on a top spread for her!.!.!.
truly a day for her to remember

Perhaps you can just tell all your guest to eat before they come and serve chip, dip, punch, and a cake!.!.!.!.!. you know, like a 1 year old's birthday partyWww@FoodAQ@Com

Replace the peanuts with styrofoam packaging as it's free and will last longer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Its not like you to be this slow!. Why not just sell tickets!. Then your daughter can be really sure of who her true friends are!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
