What is a fairly inexpensive place to have a baby shower in NYC (Manhattan)??
I am throwing a surprise baby shower for my younger sister (19). She us due end of October so I'm looking for a September Event.
Its her 1st baby so I'd like it to be nice, however $$ is limited. It will be around 30-40 ppl. Food and Music does not need to be provided by the venue. IDEAS PLEASE??

Your place or a friends or realtives place, or or the banquet room of any resturant< though your best advise is to have it a somones house more quiter then a resturant, and besudes you play games so sonme one house will be best!! as for food ask the guests to bring something make it a potluck! god luck and say congratulations to your sister for me!!!

how about your house? or if thats not an option, make it at a park someplace, weather is pretty stable now.
Agreed - the parks in Manhattan are beautiful. Many of them offer picnic space. A permit to host a party there is $25. Check out the parks online and scope them out. Riverside park is great, down near the 60's there are several picnic areas right on the water. And in Sept. the weather is beautiful - so a few balloons, some fingerfood and lots of games...
