Question:

I'm trying to organise a 40th birthday for a male friend.?

Any ideas for themes and venues.?
By the way I live in Dublin, Ireland!

Answers:
Make it all BLACK

Black cake
candles
attire
candles
etc
ask the people at his work place to participate in this "over the hill" celebration

Rent a marquee and on it post "lordy lordy! look who's forty"

We did this for a boss of mine (at a bank) years ago. We all remembered it YEARS later.

I love many of the idea posted below mine too.

Happy Birthday to whoever!

Go skiing, because it's all down hill from now on

black sounds cool, but could be a bit funerial? what about a footballers and their wives party? bling bling. however, depends a lot on what he's into...

try an irish night

This could be the most important birthday ever ! Life really begins at 40. Theme should be sensuous ...... lots of sexy outfits, aphrodisiacs and lots of candles ...........Have fun !

You could do a really fun version of its your life! Have some hideous woman (or man dressed as a woman) that comes out as you read some made up story of his first true love..or his girlfriend or something. You might have someone made up with a horrible monster mask on to show what he look like after his first fist fight. Think little milestones in your lives. Involve the family and get lots of dirt on him (keep it nice though!) Once you start you 'll think of loads of other stuff. Should be a great laugh especially if you can find a room big enough in a pub!

good luck!

70's night or go as a pop star or song, but really you are lucky living in Dublin we were there last October and for the 3 nights we were there every night was a party night, fantastic place and fantastic people and having a nice friend like you I am sure whatever it is you decide on he will love and appreciate you for it.
