Question: How much food do i need to have to feed 28 adults & 10 kids for a birthday party?
i am planning a birthday party for my sons (one will be 3 and the other will be 1) and i am trying to figure out how much food i should prepare if i expect to have 28 adults and 10 kids there...i plan on having cake, cupcakes, ice cream, and possibly chips, mac n cheese, or sandwiches...how much of each should i need? also if you have suggestions on what to serve or whatever that'd be great...it's a thomas the train themed party

Answers:

I know you can order cupcakes from Walmart at a reasonable price and for this many people you will probably just need 3 dozen.....I am in charge of parties at my work and I have ordered cupcakes and I ask if they can smooth the top as if it looks like a cake and you can put your own decorations.......Chips maybe 3 to 4 bags......mac and cheese.....like 3 to 4 boxes if you plan to make it......sandwiches if you make 2 loaves and cut them up in 4ths it will make lots of sandwiches....depending also on what you are planning to fill them with.

I love to make chicken salad sandwiches.....egg salad sandwiches.....pasta salad.....sausage in bbq sauce (I like to buy the Ekrich 3lb pkg and slice them in circles and put them in a crock pot).....chips and dips....for adults....I would keep the macaroni for the kids but cut it down to 1 to 2 boxes.....oh and on the sandwiches I like to use the Hawaiian bread its awesome and are a big hit at my parties.

Hi Little Missy, with the children it is fairly easy you can just make up a large trifle and ice cream for savouries you could have little pastries and of course a cake and pop. For the adults macaroni cheese does not sound too inspiring as they could probably have that any day of the week. I would suggest that you do some chicken pieces and various nibbles etc and a couple of bottles of wine or a punch. Here is a site that will give you a few more ideas than I can write at this time. Just remember preparation is the key and the more you can do the day before the better I hope this helps, all the best. Rab
