Answers:
bruscetta --a loaf of french bread sliced 1/3 inch thick ,couple of tomatoes diced, garlic, green onion, fresh basil &a drizzle of olive oil salt &pepper fresh mozzarella if you want to splurge .makes a good quantity of food for little money but doesn't look it.

Chocolate cake :)

How about a tuna salad

bake something easy like cookies or brownies.

a watermelon & a bag of chips
family sucks anyway

jello

how does artichoke dip and ruffels chips sound?

Soda is always appreciated.
You can get cupcakes at the grocery store.
Or, get some of those little dessert shells, some frozen, sugared strawberries in the freezer section, and some cool whip. Strawberry shortcake!
A sheet cake.
Chex mix.
Salsa and chips...
Get one of those aluminum throw-away roasting pans, soften some cream cheese and spread it over the bottom, cover with salsa, black olives, cheese, gaucamole, etc.
Popscicles (provided you have someplace to keep them. Its gonna be hot most places tomorrow, they'll be appreciated)

And if your family is anything like mine, a bottle of soda well laced with rum. Carry it around and don't share. Its your's. You've earned it.

Vegetable fried rice goes over very well, as does a mixed bean salad or pickled mixed vegetable salad (containing shredded cabbage, carrots, cucumbers, peppercorns, etc.). My personal favourite is a cucumber salad made by putting a couple of peeled cucumbers through the food processor's fine slicing blade - drain - sprinkle with salt and then set aside in a collander and allow to drain - squeeze out the remaining excess moisture - toss with oil, a fair bit of vinegar, salt, pepper. Refrigerate to chill. Serve. (Make it the night before.)

Bruchetta on french bread, sliced watermelon , cantaloupe with strawberries, cheese tray with soft spreadable cheeses to go on bread and pate

go out and buy a package of flour tortillas, two tubs of vege cream cheese, and some leaf spinach (bag of) (or if you are really, cheap, lettuce). if you still haven't reached your budget threshold, buy some red and yellow pepper and pre-chopped olives. spread the cream cheese on the tortillas, lay out the lettuce nice and flat, add thinly sliced veges (if you can afford), and roll up the tortillas. now slice and arrange on a tray. cheap and pretty. search on "high rollers" recipe for the expensive version.

Stop at the deli at your local grocery store and pick up some hummus, pita chips, olives and feta cheese. Guaranteed good and no one else will bring it.
