You could organize the event to have guests bring some food : -one family provides the chicken, one the pasta, one a large meat tray, one buns, etc. Pass around a list and divide into categories, and ask everyone to choose what they want to bring. Or in the invitations put in it please bring a dessert of your choice in a few of them, salads in a few, etc and to contact you with their choices. OR>>> you provide all the meats and buns and have others contribute the rest. I'm sure most won't mind helping out (and it would help you not to have to store everything!).
Have 2 white twin sheets to lay on tables and have permanent markers for people to sign and make a cute design next to their name...later have the sheets made into quilts for them to keep (and pass down). Also include a nice 5x7 card in with their invitation for guests to write about a favorite memory of the anniversary couple...these will go into a decorated box for a homemade scrapbook of memories...make the cover using an old wedding photo copied and cut with scalloped scissors mounted on nice fabric....gold is theme color for 50th anniversary.
Have packs of disposable cameras on tables for guests to capture special moments of each other...they sell packs at party stores (get coupons online at their websites, like 50% off regular priced item, etc!).
Or if you're not doing the sheet thing...have a guest book for everyone to sign.
Make the party area charming...make use of potted plants, flowers from gardens, etc.....spray paint pieces with gold.....even candles can be scrubbed with sandpaper and sprayed gold. Set out their wedding album....get a CD of their wedding song to play. Use gold glitter spray to spray balloons for more sparkle.

Gold candies to fill small jars? (like those chocolate gold foil coins...or Hershey kisses in gold foil)...in gold netting wrapped up with ribbon? (get tulle and cut squares and tie and can even insert into some kind of plastic favor) with a printed card attached.
A park is a great setting!
That is alot of people so for food your probably want to have it catered.
For games, you can do things like cornhole: http://www.ajjcornhole.com or Bocce: http://www.bocceballsets.com
