Question:

I would like to have a dinner party, any suggestions?

I have never had a dinner party and would like to have one. There will be four people present. I would like to serve and appitizer, main course and dessert. One of the people who will be comming to the dinner party knows what she likes. She likes chicken, cheese and pasta. I am hoping to get a few ideas by posting this question. THANKS!!

Answers:
I love to throw dinner parties and this menu was usually a hit:

Appetizer: Cheese and crackers platter with white and red grapes and a couple nice bottles of wine

Dinner: Start with a simple tossed salad. Pasta is the easiest thing to do for guests (it's inexpensive and you can feed an army if you have to from one box of spaghetti). You can do a simple grilled chicken breast (just take he chicken and toss it in olive oil and Italian seasoning and kosher salt, throw it on the grill and voila - you can also do it in the over or stovetop, if grilling is out of the question). Take the chicken and serve the breast sliced or whole over fettuccine Alfredo (I use the Ragu light Alfredo sauce - no one knows I use the jarred kind so get rid of the evidence quickly) and you can add fresh broccoli as you heat up the sauce. It not only makes it colorful, it's a great taste.

Dessert: I love to bake so I usually will do my famous carrot cake or flan. But you can always just buy something nice at the bakery or grocery store. I serve with coffee or tea.

If you have a Sam's club they have very good appetizers and all you do is heat them up they also have elegant dishes like cordon bleu and salmon Edna you suck

i think you should have a theme for the party and then you can get decorations that match that theme. If your theme is Italian.. then you can get chianti bottles to hold the candles, serve italian food, and play italian music in the background. look at www.foodtv.com for recipes.

i dont know about the other stuff but bakes alaska for dessert is a wonderful idea

edna get a life she (or maybe he) didnt do anything wrong

Appetizer: Try a a chicken salad..

Main Course: Try wrapping puff pastry/filo pastry around marinated chicken and bake with pasta and cheese or make a lasagna.

Dessert: Well cheese, let's see... You could make a savoury cheese souffle or present a cheese board with a variety of cheeses..

APPETIZER
Crispy Cheese Poppers
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1 fresh jalape?o pepper, stem and seeds removed, chopped
1/4 cup grated cheddar cheese
18 wonton wrappers (from a 16-ounce package), thawed if frozen
1-1/2 cups vegetable oil

In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, chopped jalape?o, and Parmesan cheese; mix well. Place a wonton wrapper on a flat work surface. Dip your fingers in a small bowl of water and moisten the edges of the wrapper. Place about 1 tablespoon of the cheese mixture in the center of the wrapper and fold diagonally to form a triangle. Seal the edges firmly with your fingers. Continue with the remaining cheese mixture and wonton wrappers. In a large deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil until hot but not smoking. Fry the wontons in batches for 30 seconds per side, or until crisp and golden. Remove with a slotted spoon to drain on a paper towel-lined platter. Serve immediately.
