Where to start planning a party for 50 yr old when your 14?!

Question: Where to start planning a party for 50 yr old when your 14?
Its my mums 50th birthday soon and I really want to make it special. I'm 14 and so don't really have any money but I have 2 sisters who are 18 and 17 who both have part time jobs. All we really want is a school-assembly-sized hall, some food and some decorations but we need it all to be really cheap- my grand parents might help with the planning but it still needs to be pretty cheap. Can any one help?

Talk to your Mum's friends and make it a pot luck dessert and appetizer party and maybe they can assist as well. You don't need to serve a meal. Get photos of your Mom from everyone and photocopy them and put them in a book and some as big pictures on the walls or on a display so that others can see them too. Make tea and coffee and lemonade or punch. Don't worry about alcohol. Small sandwiches are easy to make. A veg and dip tray and a meat and cheese tray are good too - see if Tesco's or Sainsbury's will make up trays for a good price - they might do a dessert tray. anything you do will make your Mum happy. The decorations can be home made signs or letters from friends. LIKE it is NIFTY to be 50!
