I need a good party idea?
My 30th Bday and graduation from business school are next May and I want to put together a great party in the LA area to celbrate both. Current ideas include party boat curise or finding a bar to get a private room. Let me know if anyone has a mindblowing idea for about 50 people that like to party hard.

A ''black and white'' dress code can be good fun.

When I finished nursing school, we did a luau party for my class and their families - we rented a hotel swimming pool with a bar nearby, and had barbecue type food catered in, and we all stayed over at the hotel. We paid in advance for an open bar, and just hung out poolside. We also had a DJ for a couple of hours. :) We did leis at the door, and a best legs and limbo and hula contest for tacky Hawaiian shirts, and totally got sh*tfaced drunk. And it was nice, because we didn't have to go home. :)

I'd recommend against the party boat cruise... too many people might get a little seasick. Your idea of finding a bar to get a private room is a good one. If you're the outdoors type, perhaps you can go to a nearby park and rent a pavilion. Another idea is to rent a hall or special room at a banquet center. I'd strongly recommend a buffet... and an open bar. People could eat and drink at their leisure the entire evening. Be sure you have enough attendants to keep that buffet filled and neat... be sure they keep the hot foods hot and the cold foods cold.
I would have a bring a dish luau. You supply the pig roast.
Do a 80s prom theme! Everyone can come dressed in there taffita poofy dresses and teased hair. then decorate like a over the top prom (can you say under the sea ! :) )It will be light hearted and fun and everybody will have a great time dancing to all the fun 80s music, and drinking spiked punch!
