American party ideas??? Please help?!

Question: American party ideas??? Please help?
I know it might sound silly for an Australian to have an american party but I think it would be fun. Especially the different chocolates and stuff they have.

Anyway, I'm alright on the decorations and music but I was just wondering for the food.
I'm allowed to order stuff from overseas, so what are some all time american party foods??

I was thinking of making smores but I dont really have any other ides....
Could you tell me what kind of:
Chocolates
Lollies
Biscuits
Chips
Drinks
etc

I should buy....Thanks :)

I've read all the other answers and what they suggest as party food...but what's funny is the fact that at any given party...you always see them eating pizza! That's gotta be the #1 "party food"...that and wings (and those you can make yourself with online recipes....use allrecipes.com)

Favorite candies include M&M's (and you can order off their website to have your own personalized sayings on them, too)--Reece's peanut butter cups, Snickers candy bars and lots of other choices--Heath Toffee Bars, 3 Muskateers, Twix, Almond Joy, Mounds...etc

Other treats might be pretzel rods dipped in melted chocolate then put some colorful sprinkles or "jimmies" on them. (Be careful when melting the chocolate chips: do 50% power for 40 seconds, stir, then reheat in short increments until fully melted).

Popcorn is another favorite...sometimes people flavor it with cheese or caramel.

As far as lollipops go...anything goes, really...collect an assortment, place in a cup for people to grab.

And yeah..smores are a favorite, too. So are cupcakes (for ideas go to duncanhines.com or bettycrocker.com or pillsbury.com) for ideas on decorating and recipes

If you want to add more to the party: there's different dips and bread bowls (take a round loaf, usually rye, and hollow out, fill with onion dip or a veggie dip or a chipped beef dip); break the hollowed out parts of the bread into finger-sized bits and place around the bread bowl for dipping.

Drinks: Coke and Pepsi for cola drinks, or 7-Up or Sprite for non-cola drinks

Deviled eggs are a favorite

Nachos and cheese dip are good

Cocktail weiners in a sauce of 1 small jar of French's mustard and 1 small jar of mint jelly, all mixed together and serve with toothpicks. (If you can't find small coctail weiners (hot dogs), just cut up regular ones)...simmer in sauce, keep in small fondue or crockpot.

Potato chips: Lays are probably #1...different flavors...regular, BBQ, chive and onion, etc.
or there's Pringles in cans.
Doritos

Any kind of appetizers made with Pillsbury rolls....use the crescents to make "Pigs in a blanket" (little hot dogs wrapped in a dough and baked...serve some dipping sauce on the side)

I suppose we should include some healthy things...a veggie platter with dip and cut up fruit pieces on party picks ..add a maraschino cherry, pineapple chunk, grape..can add any melon ball, too...stick picks into a half melon placed upside down so people can grab and go!

Have fun at your party, whatever you decide to put together ;)

apple pie, peach cobbler, any fruit or berry pie really. Strawberry rhubarb, blueberry, etc.

Coke is pretty universal, I would look at Moxie soda or root beer.

Chocolate chip cookies, or oatmeal raisin cookies.

Cape Cod potato chips! (I'm from there!) or Lays or even better UTZ brand

Every time I go to a party I'm excited to see cocktail shrimp?

Smores are a great idea and are the best eway to end a night. Specially if you have an open fire.

As far as food goes I would recomed burgers..you could do sliders wich are mini burgers.

Meatballs or cocktail wienie in chili sauce, or bbq sauce. If you can't find the weienies just cut up some sauasges and put them int he sauce. http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy&hl=en…

Deviled eggs

Various veggies with ranch dip.

Brownies

And chips and salsa, and other dips.

As far as drink you can makwe a punch or just do soda

depends on the region, in the south there's fried chicken, corn bread, collard greens. you could always have hamburgers and hotdogs. thats all i can really think of. I hope your party turns out great. have a nice day.
