There's always an "Under the Sea" theme with beautiful colors of aquas, teals, blues and greens...with pops of colors like the coral reefs and yellow fish, etc. Green streamers cut can look like underwater growth against a bluish plastic tablecloth hung as the ocean....attach different fish, turtles, etc swimming behind the reeds. Add starfish, sharks, mermaids and pearls! clown fish, too.

Ceiling could be filled with clear helium balloons to look like bubbles-Have Mylar fish and dolphin balloons free-floating in the area, and have lots of blue latex balloons on the floor to create "ocean atmosphere." Hang a fish net in the corner of the under the sea birthday party room.

Have some seafood items on your menu (I don't know how many you're inviting or if the party will be at home?)....can do things like coconut shrimp and a dip, crab-filled mushrooms,
do you have those snack fish crackers from Pepperidge Farms there? you can make this:

*Goldfish Party Mix: Put 3 cups of Chex cereal, 3 cups of goldfish crackers, 1 cup of pretzel sticks, and 1 cup of peanuts in a large bowl. Pour 1/2 cup of melted margarine over the top and mix well. Place the mixture in a baking dish. Microwave uncovered on high for two minutes.

Sprinkle 4 tbsp of grated parmesan cheese over the mixture. Stir well. Microwave on high for three more minutes. Stir once halfway through cooking time. Let stand for five minutes until crispy.

OTHER food ideas: *Gelatin Sea: Cover the bottom of a large, clear bowl with fruit cocktail (about 30 oz). Make gelatin from 6-oz package according to directions. Slowly pour the gelatin over the fruit, and place uncovered in the refrigerator to chill. Once the gelatin has set, cover the bowl with plastic wrap. Keep refrigerated until ready to serve.

*Fish Sandwiches: Use fish-shaped cookie cutter and a variety of fillings to create fun-sized sandwiches.

* Can also make a macaroni salad using SHELLS macaroni...or make mac and cheese to serve

DRINKS: *Sea Creature Drink: A day before your under the sea birthday party, freeze small gummy dolphin or gummy shark candy in ice cubes filled with water. (Let the trays stay at a room temperature for 20 minutes to remove air bubbles before freezing.)
At party time, prepare blue drink mix according to package directions. Then pour it in a large punch bowl, and add 2 liters of ginger ale...serve cubes in cups, then add punch to cups.

Other table decor can be little goldfish in bowls with pretty bluish-green stones on bottom....(give away as prizes at end of party with some food for them)

Invitations: Simply fill clear plastic bottles with sand, mini sea shells, glitter, etc. Write your invitations on parchment paper, then roll them into scrolls, and insert invitations into bottles. (attach a cord to hang out from bottle so invite can be pulled out easily....have it say..."You are O-FISH-ally invited to an Under the Sea Sweet 16th party"

Party favors...anything beach related: key chains with fish on them, starfish or sharks

Activities...that's up to you as you know your guests best...do you want dance music? games to play with the balloons?....charades, ...a lot depends on how many guests will be there. A truth or dare game...where their "dares' are hidden inside the various balloons you have floating around...they have to pop one to reveal their dare.

EDITING to add: I forgot to say, if you google "Under the Sea Cakes" you will see many ideas...it all depends on how fancy you want to get. You can even do something simple like making a rectangle cake..or sheet cake...and adding candy rocks on the bottom and down that side for the ocean's bottom...piping green seaweed up from that on one corner, using gummy fish swimming off to the other side and add pops of color by including an octopus, starfish, mermaid...just be creative or follow a design from one of the sites. 3. might be fun for you hollywood theme : everyone dresses like red carpet style everyone become a celebrity , you can make a movie of your pictures since you where born, i would serve fruit punch in the plastic clear glasses and pop corn during the movies but the popcorn can be in a mini popcorn bag. or the 80's ,or 20's, or caveman theme lol.
4. or pick a time in your life that made you happy a relive it with your buddys and share your memories...
5. make it all about you pick your favortie everything: food , sweet , snacks , ice cream, and other stuff lol well just have fun becasue your only 16 one time have a blasted but be good your only still a baby!!!
