for the costume, here's an idea that's kind of out there (maybe TOO quirky!)

how about being a taco?

there's this one: http://www.findcostume.com/fm-ras-7079.h…
or, if you're a smaller size, try the child's one: http://www.findcostume.com/child-taco-co…

so obviously this idea is very corny, but I think you could pull it off if you're a girl. You can wear leggings underneath the costume & do your hair in cute style. It's up to you -- I think this taco costume would bring a lot of laughs.

hope that helps :)

Guacamole - it's essential to any fajita meal
PROPER salsa (probably best to make your own)
Borracho beans - pinto beans cooked with beer, coriander, etc. .
Maize tortillas

If you're old enough, a Mexican beer like Corona or Pacifico (don't forget the lemon or lime) OR tequila slammers.

Decorations - that's iffy. You can run into "offensive" territory if you get too quirky or cutesy. I'd suggest the Aztec calendar since it's a common, ancient, imposing symbol of Mexico. An Aztec theme in general is interesting and fun w/o being corny. You can also use their flag, cactus, la Virgen de Guadalupe, the colors of the flag.

Fajitas are a great thing to have. They will go far. Have a choice of chicken and beef.

Refried beans are cheap and easy as a side dish.

Cheese dip and chips

Dessert can be anything you want, cookies, brownies, etc.

Unfortunately I could only find traditional costumes online.

This website will take you right to all the decorations you could possibly want: http://www.orientaltrading.com/ui/search…

Decorate the party using red, white, and green, the colors of the Mexican flag
inexpensive pi?ata
Hang cactus, chili pepper and sombrero pinatas on the walls.
maracas, you can purchase inexpensive plastic ones, or make your own using paper maché
Small Christmas lights can add to the ambiance and add some fun color without spending extra for the party

eh thats about all i know

Along with your fajitas, make sure to have fresh salsa and guacamole. You need tortilla chips. And you can add beans to the array. Some like to add a spanish rice with corn as well.
Cactus is a good centerpiece. Sombreros and Mexican blankets draped around. Get a lot of Jose Cuervo with lime and salt o and Corona. Chili pepper lights. Make the flowers from paper (you know the kind if you think about it but I can't make them for anything). LOL
Have a pinata game.
