Baby Shower Appetizer Ideas?!

Question: Baby Shower Appetizer Ideas?
I'm 20 years old and having my baby shower in 2 weeks and have yet come up with food ideas. I am throwing it myself since nobody elsewould do it. It's a stop-n-go shower so it's not too much of a formal thing. I am verrrry low budget. I need CHEAP and quick appetizers to prepare and that's where you come in. =) I appreciate all recipes and help with this so thank you.

First off, congrats. As for cheap & easy...make some pepperoni rolls! Here's a great recipe: http://www.squidoo.com/pepperoni-rolls

well im not sure what the recipe was but it was this cake with some sort of baby food. not like yam stuff but just apple flavored i guess. or you could just do the easy thing and have chips and salsa and some cheap snacks like quakers and cheese. and SODA..... or juice..

been to an epic baby shower

You are throwing yourself a shower? Really? That simply is NOT done. If you are hosting a party, you need to treat your guests well..especially if you are throwing it just to get gifts. I would seriously rethink this party. I know that I would be pretty pissed off if I attended a shower after spending the time, effort and money to buy something nice and all I got was ritz crackers and kraft cheese.

Quick & Simple
1. pigs in a blanket- take canned biscuits or crescent rolls (canned biscuits cut each biscuit in 1/2 flatten out wrap a sausage in it) same thing with crescent rolls except no cutting in 1/2.
2. pizza rolls
3. salad is always a good choice!
4. chips & dip!
5. nachos!
6. cheese sticks, jalapeno poppers,
I hope this helps you out!

Pigs in a blanket (baby in blanket)

Make your own nachos station (cheese, chips, salsa, beans, guacamole,etc...)
Seven layer bean dip
Fruits
Veggies
Cake in pink or blue (whether boy or girl)
Candy like sugar babbies, baby bottle pops, candy cigars, pastel m&m

I agree with La Vie Boheme

Chips and salsa, bean dip, guacamole, sour cream. Simple, convenient and tasty.

A clever way to get past the idea that your appetizers are "cheap" is to make them interesting ;)....a little whimsy will leave a memorable impression on them....for instance, making 'baby bib half-sandwiches">>
you take a thin slice of bread (wheat? white?) and cut out a slight semi-circle on one edge; then lay a scalloped piece of yellow cheese on top also with the same semi-circle, now make a smaller piece of ham, rounded off to put on top with semi-circle; lastly, use white cheese in can or cream cheese in a bag with a star tip and put a dollop on the bottom of the ham with 2 little sprigs of rosemary coming out of it on the sides; green onions cut thin and to fit placed behind the bread make the "ties" for the bib: http://www.bettycrocker.com/menus-holida…

Make some deviled eggs (a dozen eggs gives you 24 to serve!)...but why not make them into cute little "cradles or bassinets"? Fill the middles with the yellow egg mixture (using a baggie and piping it in works great)...the yellow looks like fluffy blankets. Then cut thin slices of olives (red or green, your choice or just mix them up) and attach as "wheels" on both sides of bottom of egg--stick on using dab of cream cheese or something like that. You don't need a handle or anything...just seeing the eggs with wheels should get the idea across...or maybe I'd try making little bows from those green onions..cut really thin and place them on top of the blanket...another olive round peeking out at one end of the egg could be baby's face?

You could do a crockpot of
TASTY MEATBALLS

cocktail meatballs
1 jar of chili sauce
10 oz. of grape jelly
2 lbs. of frozen precooked meatballs
2 tablespoons of mustard

Place everything in a crockpot and place on high until cooked. Turn to low until time to serve. This is so yummy!!

Another suggestion:
I mix a large can of fat free refried beans with a couple tablespoons of taco seasoning and spread in the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan. Then you can add layers with whatever you have--I use fat free sour cream, chopped lettuce, chopped tomatoes, shredded cheese, a bit of salsa if you have it. I also put some chopped onion on it. Then all you need is a bag of tortilla chips and you are done!

With savory food items...having some fruit is always good...can do easy, too; keep it simple, use short skewers or party picks...on them place a pineapple chunk, a green grape, and a maraschino cherry...stick picks into half a grapefruit or orange or a melon if using cantaloupe or honeydew, too...(this is easy for guests to grab).

Good luck at your shower ;)
