I want my buttercream forsting to be harder?!
I made it with butter and veg shorting, how do i get it to become a ittle hard so i can decorate it it's been about 3/4 hrs is stil not soft and i want to smooth it out w/ a paper towel and can't

I am confused. You are talking about needing the frosting to be "harder" but I think you mean thicker.
Then you talk about it "not being soft". What is it you really want from the frosting.
If you need it Thicker for decorating you have to add more powdered sugar before you frost the cake. It's not going ot set up more once it is on the cake.
Put it in the freezer for a brief time-watch it closely. Then decorate.
If it is not on the cake, yet, (in a bowl) add more powdered sugar.
