You are what you eat? discuss..does eating comfort food make you a bad person?
we all like to pig out now and again and we all eat what we want
isnt there too much pressure to look good...
Answers:
Naw it makes you comfortable
It's a saying with no scientifical evidence to back up the theory 100%.
Agree, I am very overweight and I feel that pigging out depresses me but that does not stop me.
only if u dont overdo it
for e.g. if youre fat and eat more because youre crying that youre fat thats pathetic and you need to get a life
however if its just once in a while then no
People, not food make you a bad person.
I think that it's totally normal to use food to comfort us when we are down or sometimes as a reward. This has been instilled in most people since childhood, i.e. if you got a shot at the doctor's office they gave you a lollipop; if you make a good grade on your math test your parents take you out for a banana split. There is nothing "wrong" with it as long as you are in control of it and as long as it does not cause issues for you in terms of your health (physical or mental i.e. if you are unhappy with your body & you get depressed b/c of bad body image, etc). If someone slips into a depression & uses food as their only source of comfort, of course it's a bad thing, just as it would be bad if they were leaning on alcohol or drugs for comfort. But just like having a beer over dinner is hardly a "problem" or "wrong," indulging with food once every so often to celebrate or whatever is not a bad thing.
I agree that people should eat what they want some of the time, just not all the time in huge portions. If you eat healthy food most of the time, one junk food treat a day in a reasonable amount is a good rule. It works for me anyway, but then I'm not anorexicly thin.
Nothing wrong with comfort food as long as you stay healthy.
No, it won't make you a "bad" person. It will make you an unhealthy person if you eat it to much of it.
The trick is to eat healthy most of the time. And not to feel guilty about little treats once in a while.
I try to eat healthy salads and fruits and veggies during the week. And then on the weekends when I go out I am not so strict and let myself have a treat.
Just don't overdo it. And don't label yourself a "bad" person if you do overdo it.
Firget looking good nonsense, it's feeling good. Considering my bro just got diabetes at age 40--you are what you eat and drink. So watch it, guys and gals! Cut out the fast food, sugray drinks and get real--eat fresh and local (no, you don't have to be a hippy organic weenie...just use common sense...yes, food made without chemicals are better and will taste better).
Make comfort food fruit--after all, it tastes just as good as some sugary deseert. But don't deny your body a treat once in a blue moon but cut out the processed snacks. Use a local bakery and stop buying stupid Twinkies.
So, yeah, you are what you eat and if you look like the Michelin Man, sorry but you're a health disaster is waiting.
Eating comfort food does not make you a bad person and yes we put too much pressure on looking good, but the main reason it is important to eat a well-balanced diet is to ensure that we are putting the best possible fuel into our bodies. (at any size or shape)
Comfort food isn't necessarily foods that are bad for you, rather usually things that our moms fed us or things we used to comfort us when little. For instance a big comfort food meal is meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and peas or corn. Nothing wrong there. Chocolate, another typical comfort food is not bad for you unless eating a pound of it daily.
Think of your body as a highly tuned car. You wouldn't fill the tank with sludge but a premium gas or whatever. The same goes for your body.
Moderation is the key....enjoy those foods that some consider "sinful" once in a while and the rest of the time try to eat balanced healthy meals.
We know more about what is killing us. So I guess our loved ones want us to be around as long as possible.
Looks would be my least worry.
A doctor has to cut through all that fat to operate and then it has to heal.
Fat enlarges your heart clogs your arteries leads to diabetes and
gives you varicose veins. The older you get the faster you fall apart if you are fat .
Good Luck it wont be easy .
No it does not make me a bad person ,just a fat one.
If you are what you eat, my friend says she's fast and cheap.
I say, if you are what you eat, order something rich.
No. I find that people who eat alot of comfort foods are usually full of life and like to have fun. Eating too much of those comfort foods may make them a person with bad health. I work in the health field. I have taken care of people up to age 105 and they will tell you that there is no such thing as good or bad food. You just need to pay attention to how all foods affect you.(mentally and physically) Everything in moderation including moderation-Matt Dillon
it makes you a human
when you eat too much. later you`ll feel bad. But foods don`t make you a bad person. That`s not logic.
No, overindulgence makes people bad, or gluttonous. I think you reach a point of maturity that you don't pig out as much. When I was much younger, I would go to (AYCEs) All You Can Eats and pig out every weekend. Now I don;t even have a desire to touch the buffet at all.
If you pig out and be a little pig(smile), maybe not!! But If you pig out & feel or look like a pig, How can there be comfort?? Again If you are comfort being piggest, have at it!!!
comfort eating makes you someone who needs comfort
it makes me well comforted and that make me a good person. take away my treats and ill go postal. anyone else like jelepeno stuffed olives in their martinis?
In cooking, there is no good and there is no evil. There is, however, caloric density. Fat is 3000 calories a pound, so if you eat 3000 calories more than you burn, expect to gain a pound.
all things in moderation
No it'dosent make u a bad person it just turns u in to a big fat pig if your not careful. XXX
Comfort eating is okay so long as you don't do it all the time.
comfort food makes us (including me) put on weight.... i'm off to get a pack of crisps!!!
Yes its true but everyone goes to through a faze and I think its okay to over eat when your feeling down. Because you can always lose the weight again. Its human nature.
Not bad in the moral sense but it turns you into a blob.
Eating comfort food dosen't make you a bad person, its just a unhealthy habit thats all. But eating like that every now and then wont do any harm. Anyway there is too much pressure to be thin these days, and its disgusting how many people, especially young girls will starve themselves because of idiots that make snide remarks about other people's weight, when they should be more concerned about their own lives and insecurities.
I dont believe in the statement 'You are what you eat' as anybody can comfort eat from time to time, its just some people do it alot as they are unhappy or feel alone - its not because they are bad people.
makes me feel good
