If ham is pork why are hamburgers made with beef?!

Question:

If ham is pork why are hamburgers made with beef?

Answers:
FYI: actually hot-dogs are made with Frankfurter sausages. And not of dogs ;-)

I've often wondered that too........LOL

If it is true that the hamburger was named after its place of origin - Hamburg, Germany - then that answers the question. Besides, hamburger sounds more appetizing than cowburger. Burgers made of pig are usually called porkburgers, where we live.

Hamburgers are food related to a German city called "Hamburg". They also have "frankfurters" as related to Frankfurt. :)

The name hamburger has nothing to do with the ingredients....has to do with the region where this food originated.....which would be the German area called Hamburg....

It is named after Hamburg in Germany .
