For invitations?!

Question:

For invitations?

Is it appropriate to put the word " black tie attire" or "semi-formal attire" on an invitation? Or is it better to put just "black tie" or "semi-formal"????

Answers:
The word "attire" isn't necessary. You should put either "black tie" OR "semi-formal"

HOWEVER :) black tie and semi-formal are not interchangeable terms. When you break it down, semi-formal implies "not all the way" formal. A guy can't get any more formal than a black tie, so don't put semi-formal if you are wanting the men to show up in black tie.

If you want black tie, put blacck tie and the men will wear tuxes and the women evening gowns. If you want less than formal, put "Business Casual" and the men will wear suits (with or w/o ties) and the women will wear either suits or cocktail dresses.

either

I don't think the word "attire" needs to be said.

Either will get the message across.

just put black tie or semi-formal

I don't think you need to say attire, but if you want to I don't think it is offensive.

Either one is fine.

On my wedding invitations, I did not use the word attire however.

really it doesn't matter how formal do u want to get really formal say attire not to formal don't say it

i think it should be formal or semi- formal no black tie needed formal says it all

semi-formal
