Is there really anything "casual" about Ina Garten?!

Question: Is there really anything "casual" about Ina Garten?
On every episode of Barefoot Contessa, Ina constantly says that she loves to keep things casual. There is nothing casual about expensive wine, expensive ingredients, and expensive table settings. I've never been to a casual party that had fancy, perfectly rolled up napkins with everyone dressed like they're at a wedding. Just sayin...

I think her cooking style is very casual compared to somebody like Julia Child. You can have a lovely dinner with wine under $10 a bottle and fancy it up with $1 cloth napkins and not every ingredient in a recipe has to be expensive. You can serve chicken that doesn't cost much, but maybe top it with a few ounces of good, expensive, parmesan cheese. I've never seen any of her shows where people were dressed as if for a wedding. I own 3 of her cookbooks and I find her very inspiring. She gives me great ideas.

It's casual if you live in the Hamptons. LOL Seriously though, with her expertise and knowledge, a lot of what she does is pretty casual. What I really dislike is the fact that she feels the need to use a freaking pound of butter in every episode and when is she going to realize that the same black shirt she wears ALL the time isn't slimming?!

I like Ina so I'm going to disagree. The cost of something has nothing to do with whether it's casual or formal. Her cooking style is more rustic and casual than formal.

for someone as talented as her cooking a small meal and eating it with friends is casual compared to serving huge amounts of extremely wealthy people for a job.

Well she goes barefoot and that often counts as casual.

She lives in the Hamptons so I am assuming that is casual for her.
