First of all, it doesn't sound like you're very respectful of your own party when you say "..and crap like that"--it doesn't entice others to want to be.

But giving you a break....if you want it carnival themed...do you also plan on having activities for guests to do? Or do you just want to decorate with carnival colors and have foods (those orange candy "peanuts", cotton candy, colorful lollipops, hots and popcorn, sno-cones, can even make cake in cones and decorate like ice cream with frosting, sprinkles, adding a cherry on top or gummi treat.

Here's recipe to make CAKE CONES: 1 box makes about 24...so use more boxes if you need more than that...
Ingredients.

any 2 layer cake mix of your choice.
About 24 icecream cake cones (the ones with the flat bottoms.
Frosting and decorations of your choice.

Mix cake mix as directed.

Fill cones with amount of batter that you would use to make cupcakes. Place inside a 9x13 inch baking pan to keep them up right.

Bake according to package directions for cupcakes.

Cake cones come out looking like they have a scoop of ice cream in them. Cool. When completely cooled frost and decorate as desired. (sprinkles, jimmies, cherry on top, or gummi decoration)

Another idea is to serve Brownie Pops...best way is to use 2 boxes for a 9x13 pan to get thicker brownies...then insert a stick, frost with melted BARK chocolate (either white or dark) because bark dries faster and harder....then dip into sprinkles and wrap individually and can store in fridge. Of course, for many guests, you'll have to make lots more.

If having some carnival games: can do ring toss: get empty liter or 2 liter bottles, paint them and weight down with kitty litter or sand or gravel...put top on bottle. Get rings or use glow sticks and tape together for tossing.

If doing Carnival theme...
Pass out Mardi Gras beads to everyone...and maybe some feather boas for fun.

Make food area look like it's under a tent using twisted streamers all fanning out from a center point. If you can't do over it...try doing behind the table on a surface. Add balloons. Be sure to give away gifts for the kids--fun glow things, and look for other nice things....give away the boas and necklaces.

you can do all types of themes you should try you local party city or party depo store. teen partys: roller skates / cosmic bowling / summer hula party in winter / under the sea theme you can use white , baby blue, and aqua balloons ad bubbles / pick a time in history like cave man time everone eat finger food / have a party base on you what you like things you ike and you can share these thing with everyone else. Like if when you where younger and you like fish or dogs or s sport then do that. Or a winter Ball room thing... good luck

OMG:) okay my idea's are more circus-y but here we go...
candyfloss machine and person who makes it? like one of the big ones you find at a fun fair
wild animals? lion, tigers and bears oh my...
some guy dressed up as a ring leader? or YOU could be dressed as a ring leader...
MASSIVE CAKE, i'm talking layers and layers and layers:)
balloons, you can put them in a net and tie it to the ceiling and then cut the rope and let them all drop?
Lots of flashing lights!
Masks
BUBBLES!
Trapeze acts?
big circus tent
games like where you have to 'hook the duck'?
hope this helps!
